Two poems by Heather Gurd:

Decoding the Myth  and  The Law of Attraction

Decoding the Myth

(Written by Heather Gurd on the occasion of Andrew and Elswyth’s Wedding: August 6th, 2005.
Inspired  (true to FASS tradition) by Charlene Costanzo's
12 gifts of  Birth)

At the glorious moment when you were wed
In the realms of magic where angels tread
A great celebration was duly held
And the level of joy in all things swelled

12 Gifts were granted to the two of you
Rich blessings to anchor your life anew

We have arrived as the messengers proud,
Now sit back and listen, as we read aloud:

The first gift is STRENGTH: to help you survive
Indeed triumph through challenges that are sure to arrive

The second is BEAUTY: When you only see this,
Your lives will blossom, and fill with bliss.

The third gift is COURAGE, no fear in your life,
As you make your destiny as man and wife.

COMPASSION (or respect) as gift four, stands tall,
Forgive and forget, we’re just human after all.

HOPE is the next gift given to you,
May you trust in life’s goodness, its intrinsic value.

The sixth gift is JOY, no stranger here, true!
Every day celebrate the two that is you.

TALENT is the gift that numbers seven,
When you share it the world gets closer to heaven.

IMAGINATION is eight, representing your dreams,
Nourish these visions, enjoy every scheme.

REVERENCE (or appreciation) is number nine,
See in each other, the miracle, the sublime.

And now for my favourite: WISDOM the tenth gift,
To guide understanding, when through chaos you sift.

The eleventh gift is FAITH, so you can know,
You are loved, and your marriage will help you to grow.

And finally LOVE– remember it’s a choice!
It grows when it’s given, through deed or voice

Now you are blessed – and these gifts are the clue
To living the myth – that was oft told to you,
If you use the gifts daily, it will soon to you seem,
That “Happily Ever After” is not just a dream

The Law of Attraction

I have often sat, and thought to myself,
The universe is magical and full of wealth.

The law of attraction holds everything together
When we live in harmony, we are gifted with pleasure.

Keeping the idea of harmony in mind,
The law of paradise? Simply:  “Be Kind.”

And this is the clue for a life of bliss,
So obvious and yet – what many can miss!

My advice for harmony with your life-long mate,
Is to practice the ritual of the Friday night date.

This is when problems cease to exist,
You indulge in touch, in talk, and the kiss.

No matter if moon is full or in crescent,
All that is needed is the gift of the present.

The world slips away, once two, now whole,
Together you experience and share one soul.

I believe if the ritual becomes unshakeable,
The bonds between you will be unbreakable.

Of course flexibility is needed for living,
If Friday’s don’t work, chose another time for giving.

Over the years you cannot grow apart,
If you make time to share body, mind and heart.

So this is the gift that we give to you,
Advice; with some cash to make dreams come true.

May your choice remind you of the Friday Night Date,
The Law of Attraction, and the meaning of Mate.
